Emily Bright, whose daughter Darcy is currently on NICU, said: “McKee House has been invaluable during our time here on NICU and it has made the situation for us much less stressful than it would otherwise have been.
“It offers us somewhere to take a quick break but still just a few minutes away from the unit. We wish everybody could have the opportunity to stay here free of change which is why we hope telling our story will help make this happen for parents in the future.”
Keri Betts, Joint Acting Matron at NICU, said: “We care for babies not only from the local area, but from as far away as Bristol.
“We would love for the hospital charity to be able to provide Mckee House for free, and it would be wonderful to see a sponsor come forward to help this happen.”
Sheila Brunton
Sheila has spent many years fundraising for the hospital charity, raising thousands of pounds over the years.
The money she has raised has gone to help departments across the Trust, in particular those treating cancer patients such as the Weybourne Day Unit.
Sheila herself has been a patient at the hospital and has very kindly spent many years fundraising, enlisting the support of family and friends.
In May 2018, Sheila celebrated her 80th birthday and, never missing an opportunity to support the charity, she organised her own birthday party where guests made a donation and enjoyed an evening of music and dance. Guests also brought along prizes which were raffled at the end of the night, raising even more funds for the charity, for which we are hugely grateful.
